Online Talent Representation Open Call

Since the Facebook groups’s inception, four years ago, we have celebrated growth milestones with an Online Representation Open Call event. Every 1000 members added to the group triggers this event. We are at 10k members now… Let’s Party!

Submission Form is open to all members of Child Actor 101.

Background Information

The purpose of the group was always to give parents of child actors access to information from industry professionals, to protect them from the myriad of scams that overcharge and underproduce their promises or services. Each year, thousands of parents attend showcases from company’s like Ipop or IMTA with hopes of being discovered. The events often lure hopefuls with an appearance by a Disney child star and a slate of Agents, Managers and Casting Directors. They basically accept anyone that can pay the outrageous fees of $8000 to $20000 to attend the showcase. While it is legitimate that these talent reps are in attendance (sometimes with assistants by proxy), it is rare for a child to get signed. Even those that do find representation, are often dumbstruck by the realities of the business and the marathon that must be ran to find success.

There is no shortcut to success in Hollywood. Overnight fame is an anomaly and unfortunately drives young hopefuls in droves to these types of events.

The fact is, once you find talent representation, your journey is just beginning and 90% of the work and responsibilities fall upon the talent. They must maintain an excellent package of materials, including headshots and acting clips, for their reps to us to entice casting to give them an opportunity to audition for roles. The talent must also focus on acting training and use audition coaching to stay competitive.

Child Actor 101 is moderated and supported by a team of legitimate, experienced and respected talent reps, casting directors, producers, photographers and acting coaches. These connections have built the network of professionals that we provide access to submissions in our open call.

Talent Reps Involved

The list of talent agencies and managers is ever growing. It is an impressive “who’s who” of reps that specialize in youth actors, on both coasts and in regional production hubs like Atlanta, Chicago, Texas, etc.

FYI: I can not release the names of every agency and manager that is on the list to receive the submissions. It prevents parents from targeting and checking in about the submission to an individual. And also there is not a guarantee that the agency is currently looking.

I can say that:

  • Talent Agencies in LA with Youth Departments

  • Talent Agencies in NYC with Youth Departments

  • LA Mid-size and Boutique agents that represent youth

  • Talent Managers in LA that have youth clients

  • Regional Talent Agencies (Atlanta, Texas, Chicago, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Florida, Colorado)

You would be hard pressed to find any event or showcase that has this amount of potential reach. And I dare you to find one that comes close that doesn’t have a hefty financial investment attached.

Best of Luck

The child actors, with solid submission packages, have had no problem securing talent reps each open call. Many of these dedicated and motivated young actors have catapulted this opportunity to success measured by bookings in films, tv series, Broadway productions and national commercials.

A complete submission with the required elements is crucial to your chances of garnering interest from talent reps. Do not ignore the importance of these materials. And seek to have quality materials to showcase your young actor effectively.
