Actors say something underneath their auditions

Your Self Tape.  Your Audition. Has to say something about you as an Actor to casting.  There is a lot of assumptions, inferences, data that is given off about an Actor just by watching their Self Tapes. A subliminal message.

That message might be hidden but visible to a trained eye.

You can tell what they think about themselves.

You can tell how prepared they were.

You can tell how much they understand.

You can tell what their types are.

You can tell the amount of training they might have.

You can tell the level of support they have.

You can tell how they feel about the material.

You can tell what their capabilities might be.

You can tell how much more they have to give to the scene.

You can tell how bad they want a part.

You can gauge their commitment level to their profession.

You can ascertain their passion for the art-form.

You can tell if they are Series Regular types or Guest Star types.

You can tell if they are Character Actors.

You can tell if they have improv training.

You can tell if they used any technique to be present in the scene.

You can tell if they are playing it safe.

You can tell if they have potential.

You can tell how soon they might start really booking work.

You can pinpoint where they are in their acting journey.

You can tell their confidence level.

You can see their nerves or stress.

You can see their work ethic.

You can see their bravery.

You can see how they view themselves.

The Performance in your Self Tape needs to say this:

I understand this scene

I have a good foundation of knowledge in this type of acting.

I have a good idea of the tone, vibe of project.

I am educated about the film process.

I know what my strengths are.

I coached and trained for this opportunity and I am honored to get this chance to read for you.

I know I can play this.

I can bring a distinct POV to this character.

My entire body and energy is involved in this scene.

I am connected to the scene partner.

I have thought behind my choices.

I have vulnerability in my performance.

I can switch this up in a nano-second if it felt right.

I have more ideas to show you than this read.

I am not afraid to be bold and unexpected.

I like getting ugly, messy and honest.

I will go as far as it takes to get the laugh.

I get lost in the scene because it feels so connected.

I would be the happiest person in the world to get the opportunity to play this part.

I may not have the credits but I can bring something special to this character.

I am prepared to do a job of this magnitude.

Audiences will love me, I have charm and charisma.

I am unique and one of a kind.

I am excited to meet you and working hard to show you why you need to remember my name.

I want you to see that nobody could play this character like I can. I fully identify with the story/person. I have reference and understanding.

There is more to show you, but at this moment this is the best I can offer given the amount of time given, the knowledge of the script I was privy to but I am capable and receptive and motivated to explore and give more to this character.

I deserve to be here. I am an actor and I jumped at the chance to read this scene because it was a chance to ACT.

I am friendly and professional and ALL IN.
